Collaboratively transforming a parking lot into an inspiring "welcome" zone through creativity.
541-621-7467
Tuesdays
Course overview:
Students do NOT need to consider themselves “artists” to participate, but will enjoy being creative and productive.
Students will collaborate with classmates, the School, and community at large to brainstorm, research, design, propose, modify, promote, fund, and install an artwork (or at least begin) to bring life, welcome, and meaning to the Logos front parking lot.
Some of our plans and designs will be developed into artworks in themselves, using various media. Some of the final drafts of these will be submitted to the Best of the Best Art Show run by SOU for 9-12 graders throughout the Rogue Valley.
Our discussions and critiques will use “art language:” the principles and elements of design.
To engage with community outside our class, we’ll maintain a blog and a small “Community Interactive” art gallery at the school showing our work-in-progress. Each student will maintain a portfolio of designs and ideas.
We’ll visit studios and community art installations weekly, while not on site, and report their inspirations back to the group.
We will also research and report on outdoor art installations via web and library.
